The River State Police Command says it foiled an armed robbery at
Waterlines Junction at about 10 am yesterday. The Police PRO Angela
Agabe said a policeman fired a gunshot just as the armed robbers were
about to double cross their victim
"They double crossed the vehicle and came out with their arms. When the policeman that was on ground sighted them he fired shots into the air. When they heard the gunshot the armed robbers ran away and the victim took off also," said the Police PRO.
Agabe added that the investigtion into the incident is on.
Eye witness accounts say the incident happened at about 12:30 opposite a telecoms office in the area - causing pandemonium as commuters and hawkers ran for safety
Eye witnesses say the robbers may have trailed the victim and taken advantage of the traffic jam to carry out their operation.
