Facebook introduces the #tag

Facebook can get boring sometimes after you've
posted updates, replied to friends updates, seen
pictures, checked whats going on in your favourite
groups and fan pages.

In an attempt to spice things up a bit and give users
more to do and talk about, the social network giant
has added Facebook #Hashtags

What is a #Hashtag
It is a word or phrase(with no spaces) that begins
with the # sign.
Examples hashtags: #Nigeria #iPhone
#MothersDay #BreakingNews #BBATheChase

Hashtag (originally created by twitter users)
is a way of organizing or gathering subjects
being discussed or highlighting keywords into a
single readable structure.
It lets you see what others are talking about.

Twitter, Instagram, Google +, Pinterest and other
social networks have had this awesome feature since
they began but for some reason (probably Pride)
Facebook didn't use it until now.

So if you want to see what people are saying about
Bigbrother Africa, type the hashtag
(#BBATheChase) into your Facebook search bar. All
status updates from anyone shared publicly which
includes #BBATheChase will be shown.

Do another search for #Nigeria and see what comes
up isn't it fun?

FYI: Hashtags on Facebook mobile are not yet click-
able but works fine on PC. We expect a list of top
trending topics to be added soon.
