Trade Union and Nigeria Labour Congress on strike!

The Trade Union Congress and the Nigeria Labour Congress have today commenced a 2 day warning strike over the closure of the Obio Akpor Council Secretariat. The Labor unions insist that the strike is not politically motivated but is out of concern that staff of the council have not been paid for 2 months following the blockade. According to Labour, the stay at home action which affects aviation, medical, oil and gas and other sectors will be followed by an indefinite strike if the situation at Obio Akpor does not change.
