Kanye West's album cover!

Here's another supposed artwork for Kanye West's forthcoming sixth studio album, 'Yeezus'. The new artwork surfaced online a few days ago and features a cartoonized Kanye being nailed to a Y shaped cross. No one can say for sure that this is the official album cover but here's hoping, as a Christian, that it is not! We will all have to wait till June 18th to find out!

BBA Eviction Nominees.

Less than a week after they were ushered into the Big Brother Africa house, eviction fever has already gripped the housemates.

In fact,5  out of the 28 housemates have been nominated for possible eviction in both houses, Diamond and Ruby this Sunday. Uganda’s representative, Denzel is one of the nominees. But it was Kenya’s Huddah who got the most, with 7 nominations. Housemates called her ‘fake’, while some didn’t like the way she was behaving like a diva. Also, nominated was Elikem from Ghana.

After Big Brother announced the nominations last night, he called the Diamond’s Head of House, Tanzania’s Feza, to the Diary Room. She had to save one and replace them with another, and she did not hesitate but saved the Ghanaian Elikem and replaced  him with Betty from Ethiopia.

Incidentally, both Tanzanian housemates nominated Denzel (Uganda), and Huddah (Kenya).

In the Rubies house, Ugandan housemate Isaac did not get a single nomination. Those nominated from Rubies were Sierra Leone’s Bassey (6) and Ghana’s Selly (5). Nigeria’s representative, Beverley in her role as Ruby Head of House, chose to save Bassey and put Natasha up for eviction in his place.

BBA- the Chase  reality television show kicked off last Sunday night in Johannesburg with  South African super group Mafikizolo performing ‘Khona’, backed by magnificent dancers from the Mzansi Ballet Theatre.  IK who returned as the presenter rolled up in style on a motorcycle and promised viewers an exciting three months of television, which would see the housemates playing the game with their eyes firmly on the USD300 000 prize.

Speaking on this year’s show, M-Net Africa Managing Director, Biola Alabi said, “ AfricaMagic is excited that Africa’s biggest reality show is now underway. Audiences can expect the addition of interesting and engaging new elements to the show.

Big Brother has displayed remarkable growth over the years and we hope that this year will  not be different. The launch of Hot Room will certainly bring fun, laughter and witty commentary in an amusing and comical way. Shock, drama, emotions and surprises have always been synonymous with the show but audience must keep watching because anything is possible over the next 91 days.’

Denzel, who is in the Diamond House, garnered 6 nominations from his fellow housemates, who gave various reasons for nominating him, including finding him ‘weird’. Another housemate said, he tries too hard, while the South African Angelo for some reason said, Denzel disrespects women.

Muslim students wins the RSUST in court for demolition of mosque!

More than 1 year after the Muslim students of Rivers State University of Science & Technology took the school authority to court for demolishing the only mosque on the school campus, the Muslim students have been rewarded with resounding victory at the court which upholds their position that the school authority behaved tyrannically and mistreated the Muslim student population of the school. In what represents the peak of a series of anti-Muslim bigotry, religious repression and denial of religious rights.

The authorities of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) on January 25, 2012 demolished the improvised – and only – mosque in the school. Some students captured the pulling down of the mosque on their phones and cameras – and that earned two of them police arrest and incarceration!

The students have won the case in the court and in the judgment, which is now available to MPAC, the school authority has been mandated to allocate the land for the Muslim students, among other things. If you need another reason that civic activism and pursuit of right through legal means work, this is a good one. MPAC supported and campaigned for the Muslim students of the RSUST when they suffered the tyranny of the school authority.

The big UNIPORT four(4)

Let me therefore use this opportunity to highlight
the major gladiators and those holding the key to
restore sanity in the State

PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN GCON

Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is of the extraction of
the Ijaw Nation in the South-South region of
Nigeria and the first Head of State of Nigeria from
the region; graduated from UNIPORT with a
Second Class Upper Division Honours Degree,
Zoologist, a University Don and the first Nigerian
Head of State with a Doctorate Degree. He is the
Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger,
GCON and presently the President and
Commander –In-Chief of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria. He has the singular honour to be the first
Nigerian to be a Deputy Governor, Governor of
Bayelsa State, Vice President and President of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria less than six years, a
feat that does not come that easy. The heat in
Rivers State is being generated by those that feel
that every obstacle to his second bid to the
Presidency must be routed out. A quiet and
unassuming gentleman but a deadly tactician
when pushed to the wall; they are many great
politicians that have tasted his bitter pills that can
attest to this. His strength leans more on his
perceived weakness. Some people erroneously
assume that he is vindictive but records of those
that have undermined him in the past currently
benefitting so much under his administration
proves that otherwise. He is not the ambitious
type but fate continues to thrust on him higher
responsibilities that he never schemed for. If he
listens to some of the appeals on the on-going
macabre dance in Rivers State, he has the sole
key to put an end to the dance if he wants to.

RT. HON. CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI OON

Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi an indigene of
Ubima Nkwerre in Rivers State. His rise to his
present status is as mysterious and miraculous as
that of President Jonathan. A Master’s Degree
holder, Amaechi was the first Nigerian to be the
Speaker of a State House of Assembly for a
whopping eight years and later becoming the
Chairman of Conference of Speakers Forum an
umbrella body of all Speakers of the State Houses
of Assembly in Nigeria. His assumption of office as
the Governor of Rivers State, though his political
party PDP dumped him after convincingly
winning the ticket of the party during the
primaries of the party until the Supreme Court
restored him as the Governor of Rivers State still
seems a mystery to many political watchers in the
country. By May 2015 he may have spent eight
years as the Governor of Rivers State. He is
currently the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors
Forum and maybe re-elected by the next few
days. His unprecedented feats in transformation
of Rivers State have won him many international
and local awards and respect of great world and
Nigerian Leaders. His resolve to re-contest the
office of the Chairmanship seat of the Nigeria
Governors’ Forum and his perceived lack of
support to the perceived candidature of President
Jonathan come 2015 is the main cause of the on-
going macabre dance in Rivers State.
He was the rallying force behind mobilising the
Governors under PDP to support the presidential
aspiration of President Jonathan during the PDP
Presidential Primaries that produced Jonathan as
the PDP Flag-bearer and during the 2011
presidential election proper ensured that
President Jonathan got over 2million votes from
Rivers State the highest by another State in
Nigeria. A misunderstood but an amiable
personality; his forthrightness and boldness to
stand by the truth attracts so much enemies to
him particularly those who can’t withstand his
manner of approach to result oriented feats. His
numerous ‘sins’ will be highlighted later.

CHIEF BARR. EZEBUNWO NYESOM WIKE

Chief Nyesom Wike an indigene of Rumuwike
Nkwerre is a lawyer by profession, a political
tactician of note and strategist of the first order.
He was the National President of All Local
Government of Nigeria from 2003 - 2006
(ALGON), the umbrella Forum through which all
the 774 Local Government Council Chairmen in
Nigeria interface and interact on issues affecting
the Politics and policies of Nigeria, while from
1999-2007 he was the Executive Chairman of
Obio-Akpor Local Government in Rivers State, an
office he used to redefine and exhibit his special
brand of governance. He constructed the Local
Government Secretariat that stands as one of the
best in Nigeria and a great edifice to behold. His
tenure witnessed various developmental
initiatives in the local government and he is
remembered most especially for empowering a lot
of youths, elderly women and men, the physically
challenged. An ardent hand at grassroots
mobilisation, He is credited together with Gov.
Amaechi of founding the formidable political
vanguard in Rivers State - the Ikwerre Youth
Movement (IYM) that decides and determines to a
large extent the political tide in the state. He later
was appointed the Chief of Staff of Governor
Amaechi from 2007 to 2011 and from 2011
appointed by President Jonathan as the Minister
of Education State of Federal Republic of Nigeria,
a post he currently holds. He is touted as the next
Mr “Fix It” when the original executor of the office
and currently the BOT Chairman of PDP, Chief
Tony Aneinh may have retired. It is in that
capacity that he was appointed to oversee the
PDP Gubernatorial Primaries of Sokoto, Adamawa
and Edo States a feat he performed most
stupendous to the admiration of those that sent
him. Apart from Edo State gubernatorial election
which PDP lost to ACN, PDP candidates won in
Adamawa and Sokoto States.
Currently, he is at the centre of the macabre
dance currently going on in Rivers State as
according to him, “I am defending the injustice
meted to Bro Felix Obuah the PDP Rivers State
Chairman to secure back his office as the
Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, this is in line
with how I fought when Gov. Amaechi found
himself in similar situation in the past”. Being the
Director General of the Campaign Team that
executed successfully the second bid venture of
Gov. Amaechi to the Rivers State Government, it
will be assiduously on his side to come out from
this dance unscathed no matter how hard he
tries. How far he can go in this his latest move will
be determined in future. He has warned the Obuh
led Executive and his supporters not to disrespect
Amaechi as he remained the governor and leader
of the party in the State. “By the constitution of
the party, the state governor is the leader of the
party in the state, so you must respect the
governor and carry him along in everything you
do. If not, you are not being fair”. The Hon.
Minister recently donated his salary for six months
to the foundation of Tompolo.

PRINCE TONYE PRINCEWILL

Prince Tonye Princewill an enigma as the three
characters mentioned above which modus
operandi politically is a study in mysticism as the
more you try to study him the more he develops
other confusing strategies. Born a prince of the
renowned Amachree dynasty in the Kalabari
kingdom of Rivers State and trained as an
aristocrat par excellence and bestowed with an
uncommon wisdom from God. He stormed the
politics of Nigeria like a colossus dispatching
political giants like Seregent Awuse to the
cleaners and clinching the AC ticket and sent
shock waves to the marrows of the PDP giants
during the 2007 gubernatorial election. In an
unprecedented political manoeuvre, he decided
to withdraw his petition at the tribunal and chose
instead to join forces with Governor Rotimi
Amaechi in a Unity Government based on
strategic partnership that has been hailed as a
model of constructive opposition in the nation.
This move proved that he placed the state’s
stability and growth first over his own political
ambition. Maligned in various quarters and within
the ranks of the AC then, Princewill stood by his
decision. His dynamism has also been recognised
by the Federal Government with his September
2008 appointment into the 45 man Presidential
Technical Committee on the Niger Delta with the
mandate to collate and review all past reports on
the Niger Delta, starting from the 1958 Willinks
Report, appraise their recommendations and
make other proposals that will help the Federal
Government to achieve sustainable development,
peace, human and environmental security in the
Niger Delta Region. On 18th April, 2009 he was
appointed alongside other illustrious Nigerians, as
a member of the Federal Government Vision 2020
Committee, where he was subsequently
appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on the
Niger Delta. A position he resigned from on the
19th May 2009 in protest of the JTF onslaught on
Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Niger Delta Region.
Popularly known and addressed as the
undisputable Prince of Niger Delta Politics based
on the above feats. He is being mentioned here
not as a party to the on-going macabre dance but
maybe a channel in stopping it.

Interestingly these four great sons of Niger
Delta on whose shoulder lie either
escalating or finding how to restore peace
in Rivers State are all alumnus of the great
UNIPORT and the Port Harcourt big boys.
President Jonathan and Princewill are of the
Ijaw extraction while Amaechi and Wike are
of the Nkwerre extraction. Jonathan is the
eldest of the four while Princewill is the
youngest.

Anti-Gay marriage law passed by senate!

ABUJA, Nigeria - Lawmakers in Nigeria have passed a bill banning gay marriage, setting prison terms of up to 14 years. Nigeria's House of Representatives passed the bill Thursday in a voice vote. The Senate previously passed the bill in November 2011. It was not immediately clear if there were differences between the House and Senate versions. If there are none, the bill goes immediately to President Goodluck Jonathan to potentially sign into law. It also criminalizes registering gay clubs or organizations, as well as "public show of same- sex amorous relationships." Gay sex has been banned in Nigeria, a nation of more than 160 million people, since colonial rule by the British. Gays face open discrimination and abuse in a country divided by Christians and Muslims who almost uniformly oppose homosexuality.

Get to know MR2KAY

Mr 2kay man making waves in PHCity....To say 2kay, real name Abiye David Jumbo, has had to struggle for his break in the music industry is an understatement. Not that having to fight to get what you want is an alien concept to the newest arstise on the Grafton Streetz label. He grew up in the violent regions of Port Harcourt and it is those experiences that 2kay started writing music about from a very early age. But trying to focus on the music was difficult when he had turmoil in his private life that reflected that going on in his surroundings. At the age of 12 he had to hawk kerosene on the streets to help his struggling mother maintain the family. It is perhaps here that 2kay was able to understand the power of his music as he proved a popular salesman with a selling and singing pitch. He attended Community Secondary School, Bonny Island and then moved to Port Harcourt in the bid to make it into the university. This bid proved unsuccessful because of lack of funds, another hurdle he had to overcome. 2kay then made his way back to his native Bonny Island to take advantage of the oil and gas boom and get a job that would help him save the funds for his university education. In the meantime, with music on the backburner, he made ends meet by drawing portraits of people and marketing it to them for cash. Eventually he landed that employment during the constructing of the Nigerian Nlng project and that helped him raise the money he needed to continue his education. Finally 2kay did gain admission to the University of Port Harcourt on a part-time course in Visual Arts. However he had to relinquish his place again because he ran out of funds. When dropped out of school he made a brave decision to finally pursue his true love - music. As usual he went after the music industry with a typical fervour. He began attending talent search upon talent search in the hope of catching the eye of a producer or a label. He approached Grafton Records on several occasions during the yearly Bonny Beach carnival. Finally, through sheer persistence and the will for his talent to be seen and heard, he caught the attention of Grafton Records CEO Tonye Ibiama when he performed in a competition that picked the local acts that were to perform at the 2009 Bonny Beach carnival. Needless to say, 2kay came first in the contest, at the same time blowing away Tonye who immediately invited him for serious talks. Finally when the deal was sealed, a delighted Tonye knew that he had found a diamond fit for the new Grafton Streetz label. "This man had paid his dues where it really mattered, on the street. There was no fake with 2kay, it was all real-life experience going into that sound. That intertwined with his undeniable talent and hunger is why I had to have this guy on our label. There is nobody going to work harder to make his music work for the audience than 2kay. And people are really going to appreciate and love the passion and commitment he brings. And believe me, this guy can bring it big style." With the forthcoming release of his debut single 'Run this Town', 2kay realises a lifelong dream. And after working so hard to get to this point, don't think 2kay is about to stop there. He is soon to release his as yet untitled debut album from the material he has been honing in the studio since joining the Grafton stable. No doubt, 2kay is the new hardest working man in show business. His debut single Run this town scored major success across the Niger Delta and the south south and got the regions highest selling artiste Duncan Mighty endorse Mr 2kay with a remix of the song called we run this town His debut album WATERSIDE BOY is set for release under the stable of Grafton Entertainment late 2011 For more info on Mr 2kay please contact Grafton Records on 08139210218 or info@graftonentertainment.com

BBA CHASE UPDATE!

Nigeria’s representative in the on-going Big Brother Africa, Beverly Osu, when asked if she would fall in love in the house, as a norm in the BBA House, the tall and sexy lady said, she had had enough in the hands of men, and that she is likely going in there to try her best to bring the glory home but for love, she is not sure of what will happen. This is what she said, “I was in a relationship with this guy and I was close to marrying, but I broke up with him just because after fighting with my parents over him, and with my friends too; I found out that he had not a single feeling and neither did he love me at all so I had to break up with him. After all that this guy did to me, every guy that I meet and seem to fall in love with or any one that tells me he's in love with me, I don't take them seriously. All I know is that you guys will be chasing something and on getting it, you leave the morning after that.”

UNESCO: Millions of youth of school!

Nigeria is one of the highest countries with out of school youths according to United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The Secretary, Bayelsa State Universal Basic Education Board (BUSBEB), and member, National Implementation Committee on the integration of out of school boy-child education, Comrade Walton Liverpool stated this yesterday in Port Harcourt during the stakeholders meeting on the need assessment of the boy-child in Rivers State. Comrade Liverpool quoted the UNESCO report as saying that globally out of school youths constituted 61million of people involved in hawking, touting, street urchin in all parts of the country. Liverpool, who made the revelation during his speech at the meeting, explained that the Federal Government established the National Implementation Committee on the Integration of Out-of-School Boy-Child education with a view to take off these sets of youths from the streets and make them useful to themselves and the society at large. The essence of the programme , he continued, was to integrate out-of-school children from the South-South and South-East states into the basic education programme. The Bayelsa SUBEB Secretary noted that when the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) programme was lauched in 1999, only 8million youths were enrolled in the programme. “By 2009, however, it was discovered that about 24 million youth enrolled . This shows an improvement, but the problem is that our children are not properly integrated into the programme. This is the essence of the federal intervention on the out-of-school Boy-Child Education”0.0, he said. On his part, the team leader of the national implementation committee on the integration of out of school boy-child education, Prof Sam Ukala noted that the key challenges facing the UBE include socio-cultural, economic, and school- based factors. The socio- cultural factor, he said was poor or negative parental community attitude towards education, enormous priority on the acquisition of wealth as symbol of higher social recognistion and peer pressure and group influence. Others are uncertainty about childen’s inability to proceed to higher levels of learning or secure functional employment after completing basic education and the need to secure the boy-child’s future of engaging him to apprenticeship or other potential sources of livelihood, instead of formal education. Prof Ukala said the economic factors were high poverty levels in rural communities and parents’ inability to cater for children’s school needs such as school uniform, text books, school levies, writing materials, transportation fee and feeding It also includes the need for the boy-child to support family income by earning meager wages through menial jobs.

Beyonce gets grabbed on her bum by her fan!

Beyoncé was slapped on the butt by a male fan during her show in Denmark last night. The 31-year-old singer was performing her track Irreplaceable at the Forum Copenhagen in a segment of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour where she interacts with the audience as she struts on a catwalk.   After handing her microphone to different fans to sing-a-long with the track she turned to go back to the main stage when the admirer outstretched his arm out to touch her bottom. In video footage capturing the moment, Beyoncé is seen turning around and looking shocked as the crowd gasp at the man's action, before she threatens to have him thrown out of the concert. Looking directly at the fan, she can be heard saying: "I will have you escorted out right now, alright?" Beyoncé cancels show The next stop on the European leg of the tour is Oslo, Norway, tonight, before Beyoncé moves on to Stockholm, Sweden, and then Antwerp in Belgium on Friday. Earlier this month, Beyoncé had to cancel a gig at Antwerp's Sportpaleis due to “dehydration” and “exhaustion”. Speaking at the time, Beyoncé - who is married to rapper Jay-Z – "promised" fans she would make it up to them by returning and putting on a great show.

UPDATE ON STATE OF EMERGENCY!

07102-mob-Maiduguri.jpg - 07102-mob-Maiduguri.jpg
Soldiers on the street of Maiduguri

The Nigerian Military  Tuesday said it had recorded another success in the ongoing offensive against members of the Boko Haram sect, with a confirmation that a close associate of the sect’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, had been found dead, while on an errand.

The confirmation, however, comes barely 24 hours after the troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) deployed to enforce the state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe States, said it had killed three insurgents, including a senior figure called Abba, and capturing 25 others in the process.
But, Shekau in a video obtained by the Agence France-Presse (AFP) yesterday, claimed that the soldiers deployed to the three states have retreated during the ongoing military offensive, while the insurgents sustained little damage.

In the face of the hostilities also came a report that a senior personnel in the Operations Department of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) (names withheld), who allegedly was assisting the sect to get arms and ammunition into the country through the nation’s border posts with Cameroun and Niger Republic in Borno State had been apprehended, according to a security source.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, confirmed in a statement that Shekau’s associate was found dead, while on an errand.
Olukolade also revealed the capture of two insurgents, one of them a Nigerien, who were on the verge of crossing to Niger Republic through Lake Chad.
He said: “The terrorist believed to be a close associate of insurgents’ leader Abubakar Shekau has been found dead as he ran errand for the leadership. The other two fellow terrorists one of which is confirmed to be a Nigerien are now in the custody of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJT).

“The three were in the process of crossing the border to the neighbouring Niger Republic through the Lake Chad.”
The DDI said the three captured insurgents were confirmed to have operated in Baga and “participated in perpetrating arson and other atrocities around the vicinity of the town. They have been relocating from place to place since they left Baga last month.”
However, the Boko Haram video, according to AFP, marked the first public comments from Shekau, since the start of a sweeping offensive by the Nigerian Army on May 15.
Shekau’s whereabouts, which could not be determined in the video, in which he was shown seated, while dressed in camouflage with a turban, an AK-47 at his side, called on foreign Islamist groups to join the fight in Nigeria.
“Since we started this ongoing war which they call state of emergency...in some instances soldiers who faced us turned and ran,” Shekau said in the hour-long video.
The Boko Haram leader, who claimed that the Nigerian forces “threw down their arms in flight”, called on like-minded Islamists in countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq to join the fight to create an Islamic state in Nigeria.

“We call to us our brethren in these countries I mentioned. Oh! Our brethren, come to us,” he said in the video, which alternated between Arabic and the Hausa language spoken across northern part of the country.
Shekau, who was designated as a global terrorist by the United States last year, had repeated earlier statements that Boko Haram “will not stop the kidnap of your women and children until you set free our women and children, and our brethren.”
He also said the sect’s goal was either the creation of an Islamic state or “martyrdom”.
The video was delivered to AFP, though an intermediary in a manner similar to previous Boko Haram messages with the images of Shekau in the video as consistent with those previously released.
Meanwhile, the arrest of the top Customs official was the subject of discourse among residents of Maiduguri metropolis and its environs, as residents expressed mixed feelings about the development.

It was also gathered that the discussion at all corners of Maiduguri centered on the arrest of the officer, residents expressed appreciation over the arrest of the Customs official, who was said to have allegedly assisted the Boko Haram sect get thousands of weapons, arms and ammunition into the country through the border.

This arrest of the official, it was gathered, followed the arrest of some members of the sect, who spilled the bean on him.
The source said: “He was arrested by the military, following the arrest of some militant sect members, who after series of interrogations, revealed that the officer was one of the many security officers helping them to bring in weapons to the state.”
The security source said: “The senior officer manned the border post each time the truck conveying arms was about coming to Maiduguri.”
“He would simply tell his boys to let it pass that it has been cleared from above,” the source added.

Chris Brown in the News again!

Chris Brown says he did nothing wrong when he was involved in a minor fender bender last week ... and claims the other driver has been ducking his attempts to discuss the matter.

Brown allegedly refused to give over his driver's license number (and provided incorrect insurance info) to the driver of a Mercedes he rear-ended ... which, if true, could put his probation in the Rihanna beating case in jeopardy.

But sources close to Chris says he gave the woman all the correct info and when his lawyer attempted to contact her not long after the accident ... she hung up on him. We're told all subsequent calls from Chris' lawyer have gone unanswered.

Our sources also say that neither Chris, nor anyone in his camp, has been contacted by the LAPD so far. We're told Chris feels the photo below (taken at the scene of the accident) shows there was no damage to the other car.

Chris Brown being investigated by LAPD.

Chris Brown’s initially harmless fender bender has turned into a hit & run investigation. The case’s profile escalated when it surfaced that Breezy had provided false information at the scene of the crime. If found guilty, Chris could face up to four years behind bars due to a parole violation that stems from the terms of his parole over the Rihanna beating.

Ladies Night out!

10 WAYS TO GET MORE OUT OF LIFE!

Researchers from the University College London found that people who enjoyed their life the most were three times more likely to live longer than people who enjoyed their life the least. If you want to live longer by making sure you get the most out of your life then these 10 tips are for you.

Good friends

Having good friends in your life may not seem like a priority, but it should be if you want to get more out of your life. The Centre for Ageing Studies at Flinders University in Australia studied 1 500 older people over a 10-year period and found that those older people with good friends lived longer. The researchers suggest that friendships improve our lives because friends boost our self-esteem, help to keep us healthy and provide support when we’re in need.  So, if you want to improve your life make sure you work on your friendships.

Say yes

Wave goodbye to your routine, forget everything you thought you knew about yourself and throw yourself into new challenges, experiences and situations. Trying new things out, even if you don’t think you’ll like them, will make you feel free and you’ll also probably have a lot of fun along the way. Even if you didn’t enjoy an experience, by doing something that is outside of your comfort zone your confidence will be boosted. Just make sure you don’t do anything that goes against your morals or that could put you in danger.

Enter competitions

Can’t afford a car or a new holiday? Then enter a free competition. Not only because you might actually win an awesome prize without having to fork out, but also because according to a study conducted by moneysupermarket.com winning a competition you had forgotten you had entered was the second most popular little success that people found boosted their moods. The first was finding money you forgot you had in a pocket.

See yourself through other people’s eyes

A lack of confidence can be a big fat barrier that stands between you and opportunities that will help you to get the most out of your life. Yet building confidence can be a long process. If you want a quick confidence boost to get you through the short-term, pretend you are someone else and look at you through their eyes. Remember that other people won’t judge you as harshly as you do, plus they will also see qualities you miss.

Make more effort

If you don’t put any effort into things you can’t expect to get much out of your life. Making an effort, whether that means making exquisite meals when you can or putting 100 per cent of your effort into your relationships, will ensure you get more pleasure out of the experiences and people that are already in your life. Alter your attitude and add some enthusiasm into your life so that you can really enjoy living your life.

Get rich

Although we’re always told that money cannot buy happiness, a study undertaken by researchers at the University of Warwick has suggested otherwise. The study looked at 9 000 British families and found that those families that had a big windfall of money became happier and their psychological health improved. The researchers estimated that it would take a whopping one million pounds to turn an unhappy person into a happy person.  So, if you want to improve your life it might be time to start playing the lottery.

Take the best bits

Some situations in your life won’t seem like much fun, but learning strategies that help you enjoy those parts you don’t enjoy will boost your overall happiness. For example, if you hate working away from home try to do things when you’re away that you can’t do at home, such as indulging those habits that wind your partner up.

In 10 years time

A great exercise that will help you get the most out of your life is to imagine in 10 years time what you will regret more – not taking on a new challenge or opportunity, or taking the risk? Projecting yourself into the future helps you to take the enormity out of the present and you will feel more empowered when you have to make decisions that could help you get more out of your life.

Self-improvement

None of us are perfect, but that doesn’t stop us from striving towards flawlessness. Although we shouldn’t be too harsh on ourselves, recognizing areas that we can improve upon can make our lives a lot better. Ask yourself simple questions like: do I listen to people, am I too judgmental, could I be more proactive?  Once you’ve found one or two areas that need improvement, work at making yourself better. You’ll quickly notice how situations you might once have struggled in become a lot simpler to handle.

You have the power

There are some things in this life that are totally out of our control. Yet equally there are lots of things in our lives that we can control and if you want to get more out of life you should make an effort to understand which parts of our lives we can control because then we know what areas of our lives we can change.
